Mumbai: Five Jet Airways flights to the
city were diverted to neighbouring airports due to poor
visibility at the Mumbai Airport today.
There were no arrivals for 30 minutes due to poor
visibility, which dropped to 2,600-meters, a Mumbai
International Airport Limited (MIAL) spokesperson said.
Consequently, five Jet Airways flights arriving here
were diverted to Ahmedabad and Baroda, he said.
The operations at the short-runway returned to normal
only at around 2.28 pm after visibility improved to 2,800-
meters, the spokesperson said.
As the airport authorities are undertaking the runway
reconstruction work, the main runway at the Mumbai airport
remains closed between 12 noon to 6 pm every day.
The runway reconstruction work is scheduled to be
completed by March next year.
