Lucknow: Religious procession Madh-e-Sahaba
was taken out in the old city area to mark Eid-e-Milad ul
Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad on Saturday.
The procession, which started from Aminabad Park amid
tight security arrangements this afternoon, passed through old
city areas of Maulviganj and Nakkhas, and culminated at
Aishbagh eidgah, official sources said.
Meanwhile, members of Mohammadi Mission attempted to
take out Juloos-e-Mohammadi from Shahmeena Shah's dargarh in
Chowk area and they were diverted towards Jytiba Phule
amphitheater, where a religious congregation was held.
Some people attempted to disrupt the proceedings, but
they were chased away by police.
When the anjumans (religious groups) were returning after
Madh-e-Sahaba procession, members of opposite sect made some
remarks, leading to stone-throwing between the two groups on
Victoria street, sources said.
However, the situation was immediately brought under
control.
Senior officers said notorious elements involved in the
incident have been identified.
