Ranchi: BJP on Sunday termed Rahul Gandhi's
visit to parts of the country as one giving "photo sessions"
and said the AICC general secretary was not concerned over
price rise.
"Rahul Gandhi has not yet given a serious statement on
price issue despite prices of all commodities hitting the
sky. Instead, he has been travelling across the country giving
photo sessions," BJP spokesman Mukhatar Abbas Naqvi said here.
Addressing a meeting here as part of the party's
protest against price rise, the party vice-president alleged
that the Congress was not serious about checking the prices.
"It's (Congress) high command's readymade reply always 'will
discuss with the Centre'," Naqvi quipped.
Naqvi dismissed the Centre's proposal for setting up a
committee to examine the reasons behind the price rise.
"Yesterday Prime Minister Manmohan Singh chaired a
meeting of chief ministers...There it was decided to set up a
group to look into price rise. By the time the report comes,
people would have been starved to death...this decision is an
attempt to snatch the food plate from the poor," Naqvi said.
On Naxalism, Naqvi suggested that the Jharkhand
government should firmly deal with the extremist menace.
