Gwalior: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi
on Monday said that he had come to Madhya Pradesh to spread the
base of Youth Congress and the students wing NSUI in the
BJP-ruled state.
Interacting with students from the Laxmibai National
Physical Education University and Jiwaji University at the
Tagore hall here, Rahul said, because of his efforts lot of
youths have joined the Youth Congress and the National
Students Union of India had grown up manifold in states like
Punjab, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
He later also answered 10 questions from the students
one of whom wanted to know when the bill providing for
reservations for women in Parliament and state Assemblies
would be passed.
The Congress general secretary said that right now a
coalition government was at the Centre and talks were on with
various allies on the women's bill.
"I am hopeful that a consensus on the bill would be
arrived at soon," Rahul said.
When a girl student suggested that physical education
should also be made a subject for All India competitive
examinations, he said the suggestion was worth looking into.
