New Delhi: In order to reduce the rush at ticket counters and encourage the Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sewak (JTBS) scheme, railways have decided to increase the commission on sale of tickets in the unreserved class.

Besides, it has reduced bank guarantee and security deposit for the JTBS operators to attract more players under the scheme.

According to the notification issued by the Railways last week, service charges to be realised by JTBS shall be Re 1 per passenger instead of Re 1 per ticket.

This means if a single ticket is issued for four passengers, then the JTBS operator will earn Rs 4. Earlier the commission was only Re 1.

The scheme of Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sewak was introduced a few years ago to improve sale of unreserved tickets in city areas.

One can become a JTBS by furnishing certain bank guarantee and security guarantee.

As per the decision, JTBS operators will be allowed to renew season tickets.

Bank guarantee has been reduced to Rs 20,000 from Rs 40,000 and security deposit to Rs 5,000 from Rs 15,000. JTBS operators are now also allowed to shift to a new location to increase sale of tickets.
