Bundi (Rajasthan): Rajasthan will be the first state to provide online education and training to villagers in various spheres by connecting panchayat samitis through satellite.

"The state government has Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for setting up a satellite studio at Panchayati Raj sansthan, Jaipur," Science and Technology minister Rajkumar Sharma told reporters Friday.

The satellite studio with an investment of Rs 5 crore would connect the 237 panchayat samitis and the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) for providing online training in various spheres.

Besides, all panchayat samitis in the 33 districts will be inter-connected for sharing data, he added. Rajasthan is the first state in the country to have signed a MoU with ISRO for the set up, he said.

Sharma, also the state Health Minister, said hospitals would be connected with the studio and telemedicine facilities would be provided for health services.

The state has also instituted inspiration awards to promote and encourage innovative inventions in rural areas, he said. PTI
