Mumbai: Ahead of the first anniversary of 26/11 terror attack, Fashion designer-turned-politician Shaina NC has appealed the GenNext, who are used to post scraps on social networking sites, to write messages remembering the day on a wall in Chandanwadi in south Mumbai.

Explaining her initiative, the BJP leader told reporters, "We want people to remember all those killed by terrorists. We have approached several college students and artists to paint the wall or write messages."

It is our way to pay artistic tribute to the victims of 26/11. The wall will be open to public to paint messages and pictures associated with the Mumbai terror attacks last year, she said.

"The Wall Project invites Mumbaikars to express themselves in colour on the city's walls. The project asks people to paint the wall running along a one-km wall in Chandanwadi in Marine Lines in south Mumbai.

'I Love Mumbai', a city-based NGO has sought permission from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to allow Mumbaikars to paint the wall.

"Hundreds of students from J J College of Arts, Raheja College and other colleges are coming forward for this initiative. Apart from this, few artists have also shown keen interest for it," she said.

The Wall Project initiative which was undertaken by the BMC and by a group of Mumbai graffiti artists, saw hundreds of Mumbaikars throng the walls of the Tulsi Pipe road on August 15 this year.

"The project is getting bigger and better. It was an initiative to add visual elements of colour, form and texture to a space, to make the area more alive and generate a feeling among people who pass by it daily," Shaina said.

Shaina, daughter of former Mayor and Sheriff of Mumbai Nana Chudasama, who founded the organisation 'I Love Mumbai' is also an active member of the NGO. The organisation focuses on greening, beautification and cleaning Mumbai.

She is also endorsing eco-friendly cause and is distributing saplings to plant trees to make the city green so as to combat pollution.
