New Delhi: On his maiden visit to Delhi after taking over as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, K Rosaiah on Friday night met senior party leader Veerappa Moily and is understood to have discussed the current political situation in the state among other issues.

After arriving here late this evening, Rosaiah drove straight to Moily's Tughlaq Road residence and held discussions with the Law Minister, who is also the incharge of party affairs in the state.

Rosaiah is understood to have discussed the current political situation in the state, Congress strategy for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls and convening of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting.

Moily is yet to be formally elected as CLP leader. The Congress High Command is under pressure from party MLAs to convene the CLP meeting immediately to condole the death of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Speaking to reporters at the Airport on his arrival, he said: "I am not here with any specific agenda. As senior party leaders were busy with recent Assembly elections in three states and I was busy with flood relief, I could not meet them (after taking over as Chief Minister).

"So now, since the election dust has settled, I have come to meet party president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other leaders. I will seek help from the Centre for flood relief," he said.

Rosaiah was sworn-in as Chief Minister after Reddy's death and the Congress high command is said to be keen on convening the CLP as soon as possible to formally elect Rosaiah as its leader.

It is now certain that Rosaiah will continue as the Chief Minister after party chief Sonia Gandhi virtually ruled out the demand of Jaganmohan Reddy's supporters to make him the Chief Minister after his father's death.

He will also meet Home Minister P Chidambaram and Defence Minister A K Antony tomorrow.
