Allahabad: Unidentified men struck a
government bank near here, broke open its safe and decamped
with Rs 17 lakh in cash, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Naini, an industrial
township around 25 kms from the city, last night. The cleaning
staff of the UCO bank found the safe open and empty and
immediately informed the branch manager, police said.
An FIR has been lodged by the bank manager in this
regard, police said, adding that prima facie it seems that the
robbers have used gas-cutters for the loot.
