Patna: Tight security arrangements have been
made and police stations put on maximum alert in the naxal-hit
districts of Bihar in view of the 72-hour bandh by the banned
CPI (Maoist) beginning Sunday to protest against 'Operation
Green Hunt' to be launched by the Centre.
"We have made elaborate security arrangements in the
naxal-hit districts across the state to tackle the activities
of the ultras in Bihar," Director General of Police Anand
Shanker said.
All police stations in the affected districts of Gaya,
Nawada, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Rohtas,
Kaimur, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga and Madhubani have
been put on maximum alert, the DGP said.
Extra attention would be paid to protect vital
installations, Railways property, government buildings besides
schools, which are considered a soft-target for the ultras, he
said.
Additional companies of Special Auxiliary Police, Bihar
Military Police besides central para-military force personnel
have been deployed in the Maoist-hit areas to assist the
district armed police, Shanker said.
Bihar is among the five states where the Maoists have
called the bandh.
