Patna: Six special courts will be constituted in Bihar to try corruption cases against public servants, an official said Thursday.

"The state government has decided to constitute six special courts for hearing corruption cases against public servants," official sources said.

"Two courts will come up each in Patna, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur districts," the source said.

The courts will be set up under the provisions of Bihar Special Courts Act. The government can now confiscate the property and wealth of public servants accused of corrupt practices, the sources said.

The act defines bureaucrats, politicians and others who draw salary from the state exchequer as public servants.

The state vigilance department has arrested at least 325 government officials, including 50 gazetted employees, on bribery charges in the last four years.
