Jaipur: Samajwadi Party on Saturday asked Rajasthan government to focus on upliftment of minority and backward groups by making provision in the budget for measures like implementation of Sachar Committee recommendations and free education till college-level for girls from the community.

"We are demanding execution of recommendations of Sachar committee in the state, setting up of a Ministry for Backward community to address various problems faced by its members and provision of free school and college education for girls from backward classes and minority communities," state General Secretary Anil Singh Shekhawat said in a statement.

"We are also seeking fund allocation for running welfare schemes for backward and minority groups and establishment of a univerity for minority community on the pattern of Aligarh Muslim University," he said.

Currently the budget session of the Rajasthan assembly is on and the state government will present the budget on March 9.
