Etawah: Asking farmers in Uttar Pradesh
to unite to safeguard their interests, Samajwadi Party today
promised all help to them to ensure that they got the right
remunerative prices for their produce.
Addressing a farmers' mahapanchayat sponsored by the
party here, senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, who is also
the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, said the day
farmers came together for their cause, the government would be
forced to formulate a policy which guards their interests.
Alleging that farmers were being looted in the name
of paddy procurement, Yadav said they did not even know the
price which their produce, grown against odds like water and
fertiliser scarcity, would fetch.
Reassuring them of his party's support, Yadav said the
plight of farmers needed to be discussed in the Vidhan
Sabha.
