Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party has
decided to strongly counter the verbal attack on its leader N
Chandrababu Naidu by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the
Telangana Political Joint Action Committee.
The Telangana leaders of TDP, however, have not taken
a decision yet on quitting the JAC though there was
speculation that they would walk out in protest against the
JAC convenor M Kodandaram's diatribe against Chandrababu.
The Telangana TDP leaders had a meeting with
Chandrababu Naidu after the Assembly was adjourned for the day
today and strongly denounced the JAC's criticism of their
chief, particularly after the incident involving a group of
lawyers and TDP workers here last week.
The JAC convenor Kodandaram as well as TRS president K
Chandrasekhar Rao held Chandrababu responsible for the attack
on lawyers while some lawyers, supporting the separate
Telangana statehood demand, attacked the Heritage Foods retail
outlet owned by the TDP president's family.
All this has irked the TDP which threatened to walk
out of the JAC.
"We have discussed the issue with our president but
have not taken any decision yet on quitting the JAC," a senior
leader said after today's meeting.
