Udupi (Karna): Flaying the BJP government in
Karnataka for its "failure" to check attack on churches, Union
Law Minister M Veerappa Moily on Sunday alleged that there was no
law and order in the state.
"There is a feeling among people in the country that
there is no law and order in Karnataka," Moily told reporters
here.
Condemning last night's attack on a church in Kundapura,
he said existing laws were strong enough to check such
incidents and the government should implement them.
"The state's Home Minister should act like a home
minister," he said, apparently taking a dig at Home Minister V
S Acharya, who hails from Udupi district.
When his attention was drawn to the Pune bomb blast and
asked if it was not a failure of the Centre, Moily said "it is
not our failure. The Centre has strengthened the intelligence
wing after the terror strike on Mumbai".
The focus of the Maharashtra and central governments is
now directed towards consoling the victims of Pune bomb blast
and restore normalcy there, he said in reply to a question.
