Lucknow: Security has been tightened in Uttar Pradesh following intelligence reports that terrorists could target the state.
The state has been put on high alert in the wake of the alert, and security is being reviewed at all sensitive installations.
The alert comes a day after three metros – Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi – and Gujarat state were put on high terror alert after intelligence inputs stated that Taliban-trained 'suicide' squads have sneaked into these places to attack vital installations.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had called a security meet in view of the situation last night. Home Minister P Chidambaram, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister AK Antony and the chiefs of Intelligence Bureau and RAW were present at the meeting.
