Guwahati: Three militants, including a woman
ultra, of Manipur-based Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP)
outfit were arrested here today, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Manipur and Assam
police along with the army raided the ultras' hideout at
Malihata hills in Mirza near here and arrested them.
The trio are suspected to be behind the September strike
on Raj Bhawan and last year's grenade attack on Manipur chief
minister's residence in Imphal, police said.
The arrested cadres are 'sergeant major' Nanong Singh,
KCP 'finance secretary-cum-organising secretary' Ammamam Mam
Devi and cadre N Bishen Singh, police said, adding that
several documents were seized during the raid.
Police also suspect that the insurgents have hidden huge
quantities of arms and ammunitions in and around the Malihata
Hills and have launched a search operation in the area.
