Guwahati: Three NDFB (Daimary) insurgents were apprehended with arms by a joint force of police and army in Assam's Sonitpur district, police said on Saturday.

The trio were held when the the district police and jawans of the 4th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry launched an operation at Maydungsire village yesterday.

One 7.62 mm bolt action Japanese rifle and 15 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.

On interrogation the ultras said that they were involved in a number of extortion and looting incidents since 2002, police said.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles confiscated 170 logs of wood valued at Rs 1.7 lakh from Sirsabari. Police said illegal trade of logs was being carried out by NDFB (D) to raise fund.
