Cuttack (Orissa): On the dock for having
not much succeeded to control the ever increasing Maoist
violence in Orissa, senior police officers on Tuesday deliberated
how to tackle the menace.
"There is a need for professional excellence and full
and frank discussion to reach the target", Director General of
Police (DGP) Manmohan Praharaj said after inaugurating
the 54th senior police officers' conference here.
While the DGP expressed happiness over the achievement
during the previous year, many senior officials indicated
'loss of confidence' among the rank and file due to some
'reverses' at the hand of red rebels.
A clearer picture of the Naxalite problem and various
steps to check the menace was presented by different officers
on various aspects of left wing extremism (LWE).
Other issues related to maintenance of law and order
including checking communal tension, crime review, urban
police and traffic management etc.
