New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MPs today
staged a sit-in outside Parliament House to protest "state-
sponsored" terrorism in West Bengal and urge the Centre to
"act against" the ruling CPI-M to prevent political violence.
Ahead of the session, the MPs, carrying placards,
gathered in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the
Parliament precincts and raised slogans against the Left Front
government.
The party's Chief Whip in Lok Sabha, Sudip
Bandopadhyay, said, "The CPI-M has been carrying out state-
sponsored terrorism in the name of fighting the Maoists. A
large number of people have been killed".
He said the Centre should intervene and take steps "to
prevent the CPI-M from perpetrating political violence".
Those who participated in the protest sit-in included
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Kabir Suman, Tapas Pal, Shatabdi Roy,
Suvendu Adhikari, Ratna De, Nurul Islam and G C Naskar.
