Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced that he would undertake a fast-unto-death from November 29 for creation of separate Telangana state.

"I had announced that I will start fast-unto-death to achieve Telangana. Accordingly, I will begin my fast at 11 am at Siddipet (in Medak district) on November 29," he told reporters here.

Describing his proposed fast as the final battle for statehood, he said the TRS cadres and people at large should be prepared for it.

Rao had met President Pratibha Patil and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani in Delhi earlier this month to drum up support for his proposed fast.

Though he had announced he would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi during his visit to the national capital, that did not materialise.

Prior to visiting Delhi, the former Union Minister also met Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari and Chief Minister K Rosaiah to apprise them about his plans.
