Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Sunday said it stands by its slogan against settlers from other regions in Andhra Pradesh who engage in "illegal" activities in Telangana.
"We will stand by our slogan - 'Telangana wale jago,
Andhra wale bhago' (Arise people of Telengana, Andhraites run away)," TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters.
"The state government should take action against those who encroached lands in Telangana region. We will continue our
fight against land grabbers and other such elements," Rao said.
The TRS alleges that people from other parts of the state have encroached lands in Telangana, thus hurting interests of
the people of the region.
Rao's slogan invited criticism from other political parties for allegedly promoting enmity among various sections
of society.
Meanwhile, Rao is likely to leave for Delhi soon to meet
President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and veteran BJP leader L K
Advani to ask them to take urgent steps for the formation of
separate Telangana state.
He had announced that he would undertake a fast unto
death if the Centre and Andhra Pradesh government failed to
initiate steps for formation of a separate state.
