Ferozepur: Twelve persons were killed and 34 injured when two buses collided head on near a village on Ferozpur-Fazilka road on Sunday, police said.

Deputy Commissioner Kamal Yadav, who rushed to the scene of the accident, said six of the deceased died on the spot while the rest succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

The injured have been admitted to different hospitals at Faridkot and Ferozepur, he said.

The accident took place when the two private buses coming from opposite directions rammed into each other near a toll barrier located close to village Mamu Johia.

Some of those killed in the accident were sitting on the roof top of the buses.

The driver of one bus died on the spot whereas the one driving the other was critically injured. Both the buses were damaged badly.
