Varanasi: Two persons, including a woman,
were today killed while four were seriously injured in a
cave-in at a mud digging site in nearby Sonbhadra district.
While Somaru (33) and Kalawati (45) died on the spot
in the incident at Basauli village, 80 km from here, the
injured were rushed to the district hospital, where their
condition was stated to be serious.
Enraged villagers blocked the Varanasi-Shaktinagar
Highway for nearly two hour after the incident.
Police said that labourers were digging soil in the
field of one Ram Naresh in Basauli village.
Naresh and his wife Kalawati were sitting on a
heap of soil which collapsed burying Ram Naresh, his wife and
several labourers.
