Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday ordered an inquiry into alleged transfers and postings of constables on the basis of a "fake" government order in 1995.

"The state government has asked the DGP to inquire into transfers/postings on the basis of the fake 1995 government order, which stated that personnel up to the rank of constables and head-constables should be posted in or near their home districts", Secretary (Home) Mahesh Kumar Gupta told reporters here.

He said that the state government would also rectify all such transfers.

"There is an original government order of July 11, 1986 that all constables and head-constables should not rpt not be posted in or near their home districts. However, an opposite fake government order dated March 25, 1995 was created by someone and sent to DGP office on the basis of which a number of trasnfers were carried out", Gupta said.

He said DGP office has been asked to probe when the government order reached there and identify its beneficiaries.
