Dehradun: The Uttarakhand assembly was
adjourned on Tuesday following an uproar over the issue of
allotment of 56 hydel projects to new companies with the
Congress seeking a CBI probe.
Soon after Question Hour, Congress along with BSP
members trooped into the well of the House raising slogans
against the government over the issue.
Opposition members led by Leader of Opposition Harak
Singh Rawat alleged widespread irregularities in the allotment
process and sought CBI probe to unravel the truth.
"Let there be a CBI inquiry to unearth the whole
truth," Rawat said.
The uproar in the House took place despite Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank asserting there were
no irregularities in the allotment process which was done in
a transparent manner.
Later, at a press conference, Rawat alleged "eight
companies, whose credentials are not well known, are headed by
five persons only. All these five persons managed to get
projects worth 377 Mw of power which is very strange."
