New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad Tuesday
slammed the West Bengal Government for announcing 10 per cent
reservation in state jobs to Muslims in the OBC category and
said the move would encourage conversions.
VHP leader Pravin Togadia termed the decision of the state
government as "unconstitutional" and said it would encourage
conversions.
"Those who argue that Muslims are poor and therefore they
turn to jehad are living in a fool's paradise. Engineers,
pilots and other professionals from well-to-do families are
also involved in jehad," he said in a statement.
He said the West Bengal government announced its decision
despite the Andhra Pradesh High Court quashing a similar move
by the AP Government.
Togadia alleged that decisions by Andhra Pradesh and West
Bengal governments to provide reservation to Muslims in
education and jobs were aimed at appeasing the minority
community.
