Hyderabad: The Winter Session of Andhra
Pradesh Legislature will get underway tomorrow with issues
like the Telangana statehood demand and illegal mining in the
state by companies owned by Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhana
Reddy expected to dominate the proceedings.
The winter session will extend up to December 23 as
per the schedule announced by the government.
The Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council
will pay homage to late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy
and adjourn on the first day.
This being the first session of the state legislature
after Reddy's death, everyone will be curiously watching how
the Congress manages its affairs given the issues that it has
to contend with.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which has 10
MLAs, is likely to press its demand for a resolution on the
statehood issue on the very first day of the session.
TRS Legislature Party leader E Rajender has made it
clear that they would press for a resolution seeking grant of
statehood for Telangana.
The government, however, is unlikely to concede to the
TRS demand.
"Going by the tradition, we don't except the TRS will
come with an adjournment motion on the very first day, that
too when the House is required to pay homage to the late Chief
Minister," government Chief Whip Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka told
PTI.
