Srinagar: Investigation into the killing of
teenager Zahid Farooq was going on and the killers would be
presented "very soon" before the public, a Jammu and Kashmir
minister said on Tuesday.
"The investigation into the killing of Zahid is going on
and his killers would be presented before the public very
soon," Rural Development Minister A M Sagar said while
addressing National Conference workers at party headquarters
here.
The 16-year-old was allegedly shot dead by security
personnel on February 5 at Nishat.
Without identifying any one, Sagar said the government is
maintaining constant vigil on the activities of "some elements
involved in anti-social activities."
Meanwhile, several eye-witnesses have recorded their
statements regarding the case before Divisional Commissioner
(Kashmir) Naseem Lankar.
Lankar has been appointed as the inquiry officer and
asked to submit a report within a week.
The family members of Zahid today alleged that the
identity of the killers were no mystery and confusion is
deliberately being done about the identity of the agency
involved.
