Action if Kannada is not used by officials in admn: CM

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today warned government officials of stern action if they failed to use Kannada language in administration.

"So far the government has not initiated any action against officials who do not use Kannada in administration. However, hereafter they will not get any relaxation. Those who do not adopt Kannada in administration will have remarks entered into their service records," he said after inaugurating a training camp for government officials here.

Yeddyurappa said Kannada should get primacy in all signboards displayed on government offices, private institutions, shops and other establishments.

He also launched another training camp across the state through video conferencing, initiated by the Kannada Development Authority (KDA).

KDA Chairman "Mukyamantri" Chandru, Chief Secretary S V Ranganath were among the others present on the occasion.
