Hyderabad: After witnessing turmoil for
two consecutive days over the Telangana issue, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly had a smooth start on Thursday.
In the wake of the Centre's announcement last night to
initiate the process for the formation of a separate Telangana
state, the TRS members, who did not allow the House to
transact any business in the last two days, shook hands with
MLAs cutting across party lines as the House began.
Pro-Telangana members from other parties also
expressed happiness over the Centre conceding to the decades-
old demand for statehood to the underdeveloped region
comprising 10 districts.
The day began with Question Hour and proceedings were
continuing without any disruption.
There was no official word immediately on when the
resolution for separate Telangana would be introduced in the
Assembly as announced by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram
last night.
