Kolkata: Hitting back at West Bengal Chief
Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee who had dubbed Saturday's
extension of the Metro Rail to Garia Bazar here by Railway
Minister Mamata Banerjee as "tamasha", the Trinamool Congress
on Monday said his remaining in office after repeated election
debacles "itselt is the greatest tamasha".
"The government headed by Bhattacherjee, which should
have quit after a clear verdict from people in Lok Sabha and
municipal elections and Assembly by-polls, still continues.
His remaining in office is itself the greatest tamasha,"
Leader of the Opposition and senior Trinamool leader Partha
Chatterjee said today.
Charging that the Chief Minister's statement betrayed the
frustration of CPI(M), he said "it (the comment) is also in
bad taste and will only encourage his party cadre to launch
more attacks on the Opposition".
With Bhattacharjee, without naming the Trinamool Congress
chief, having claimed that trains were being announced on a
daily basis, Chatterjee said "it is expected that he should
have been happy if every day a new train is announced and
there is development in the state.
"Does he not want development of the state? Is it wrong
on Mamata's part if she has done anything for the benefit of
Bengal?" Chatterjee questioned.
