New Delhi: Bye-elections to 20 assembly
seats spread over seven states, including a lone seat of
Dwarka in Delhi, would be held on September ten, the Election
Commission announced on Wednesday.
Seven seats each in Bihar and Gujarat, two in Madhya
Pradesh and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand
and Delhi would go to polls.
The polls will be held in Bochaha (SC), Aurai, Kalyanpur,
Warisnagar (SC), Ramgarh, Chainpur and Chenari (SC) (all in
Bihar) and Chotila, Jasdan, Dhoraji, Kodinar, Dehgam, Sami and
Danta (all in Gujarat) seats.
Assembly constituencies of Gohad and Tendukheda (in MP),
Tekkali (Andhra Pradesh), Namchi Singithong (Sikkim),
Vikasnagar (Uttarakhand) and Dwarka (Delhi) will also go to
polls the same day.
According to the poll schedule, notification would be
issued on August 17. Last date for filing nominations would be
on August 24 and the scrutiny the following day. Last date for
withdrawal of candidatures would be on August 27.
Counting of votes would take place on September 14.
Polling would be done through Electronic Voting Machines
and the model code of conduct would come into force with
immediate effect in the districts in which the constituencies
were located, the EC said.
