Ahmedabad: Congress has announced its
candidates for four out of the seven Assembly seats in Gujarat
where the by-polls are scheduled to be held on September 10.
The Congress announced the name of candidates for the
Jasdan, Dhoraji, Kodinar and Sami-Harij Assembly seats late
night on Saturday.
The party is likely to declare candidature for the
remaining three seats -- Dehgam, Chotila and Danta -- tomorrow,
party sources said.
Bhavna Bavalia will be contesting from Jasdan Assembly
segment. The seat was vacant after her father Kuvanrji Bavalia
won the Lok Sabha election from Rajkot constituency
early this year.
Son of Congress MP Vitthal Radadiya, Jayesh, will contest
from Dhoraji Assembly seat, which was left vacant after
Vitthal Radadiya won Lok Sabha election from Porbander
constituency.
Dhirsinh Barad will be contesting from Kodinar, while
Dinesh Thakore will fight from Sami-Harij Assembly seat.
Chotila seat was vacant after the death of Congress MLA
Popatbhai Jinjariya. According to party sources, Jinjariya's
son Manoj Jinjariya is likely to contest from Chotila seat.
