Nearly 60% of the total construction work is of permanent nature and it would be completed by end of this month. This is for the first time that permanent structures are being constructed at such a large scale for the fair, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank told reporters here.
A budget of Rs 565 crore has been sanctioned for the Mahakumbh, of which Rs 150 crore have already been spent, he said.
Five to six crore people are expected to take part in the fair, spread over an area of 130 sq km --from Haridwar to Rishikesh, Nishank said.
