Lucknow: Protesting against the Uttar Pradesh
government's move to acquire fertile land of 850 villages in
western districts of the state for the ambitious Yamuna
Expressway project, the Communist Party of India has chalked
out a four phase agitation programme.
State secretary of CPI, Dr Girish in a statement here
said today that in the four phase agitation lasting for the
next five months, different programmes would be held in
Hathras, Mathura, Aligarh and Agra districts.
In the first phase beginning October 25, CPI assisted
by Kisan Sabha would create awareness in villages against the
project, which would deprive farmers of most fertile
agricultural land by organising cycle marches.
In the second phase from November 11, dharnas would be
staged at the tehsil headquarters on separate dates.
Girish said that in the third phase in December, dharnas
would be staged at the district level in all the four affected
districts, while in the last phase in February a joint rally
would be held in Hathras in which central leaders of CPI would
also take part.
