New Delhi: Alertness of an auto driver in
the national capital helped police rescue a minor boy from
being allegedly kidnapped for ransom and arrest a teenaged
recovery agent.
Three persons allegedly kidnapped Vansh from his house
in Baljeet Nagar last night and were passing through Laxmi
Nagar when auto driver Vijay Kumar suspected something wrong
and alerted police, a senior official said today.
While, Vipin Sharma (19), a resident of UP's
Moradabad who is a recovery agent with a private mobile
company was arrested, two others -- Vijay Yadav, a Judo
trainer, and his friend Shiv Kumar-- are absconding.
"Yadav was in dire need of money. So, he hatched a
conspiracy along with Vipin and Kumar to kidnap the child for
ransom but, before they could execute their plan, they were
caught," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jaspal Singh
said.
The trio had allegedly kidnapped the child on a
motorcycle and from Karol Bagh they took an auto-rickshaw.
However, Singh said, the auto-driver suspected some
foul play as he noticed that the boy was continuously weeping.
"He stopped the auto near a PCR van at Laxmi Nagar and raised
an alarm," Singh said.
Policemen enquired the matter from the occupants but
they gave contradictory replies which led to suspicion about
their role, he said.
