New Delhi: With prices of food items
witnessing tremendous increase, Delhi government today decided
to sell pulses and wheat at "affordable" prices.
These items would be sold through 70 circle Food and
Supplies Department and later extended to all outlets of the
Mother Dairy booths, Food and Supply Minister Haroon Yusuf
announced today.
Nine types of pulses would be sold at reasonable rates
in one kg packs, he said. The sale of four pulses like Kala
Chana, Kabuli Chana, Chana Dal and Rajma Chitra has also
resumed at 288 Mother Dairies across the city.
"The aim is not only to sell pulses and aata but also
to mitigate inflationary trends in food items," he said.
The minister said the Delhi Government was committed
to provide maximum relief to the common man to reduce their
burden from time to time.
Yusuf said the Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation
is finalising the modalities for packing and distribution of
rice in one kg pack through Mother Diary and Kendriya Bhandar.
Similarly the corporation is in process of lifting the
sugar from sugar mills and sell it in one kg pack through
Kendriya Bhandar and Mother Diary at subsidised rates keeping
in view the soaring prices of items in the wholesale and
retail market.
