New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday claimed to
have busted an emigration racket with the arrest of two
persons who allegedly sent job aspirants to Gulf countries by
affixing official stickers on fake job offer letters.
Police recovered 224 passports, Rs 14.5 lakh cash, a
laptop, forged stamps and letters, blank letter heads of
various Gulf companies and a car from them.
The arrested have been identified as Sanjay Singh (34)
and Ashraf Khan (27). They were caught yesterday from near
Ranjeet Singh Flyover Marg near Connaught Place.
During questioning, police claimed, the accused
admitted that they had managed to obtain Protector of
Emigrants (POE) stickers on fake or forged documents in the
name of reputed companies in Gulf countries.
Indian citizens, who have qualification below
matriculation and want to get jobs in Gulf countries, are
required to get a POE stickers from Ministry of Overseas
Affairs.
The POE is issued only to those applicants who have a
valid job offer from a genuine company operating in Gulf so
that the concerned Ministry could protect the rights of
emigrant person and the job aspirants cannot be subjected to
exploitation.
"They noticed that essential POE can be obtained from
the ministry merely on the basis of a job/recruitment letter
from a genuine company and collected money from vulnerable job
aspirants," police said.
