Thane: Shiv Sena will give tickets to
deserving new entrants to contest the forthcoming Assembly
elections in Maharashtra, party executive president Uddhav
Thackeray said on Saturday.
Thackeray was talking to mediapersons at the Ram Ganesh
Gadkari Rangayatan here tonight where he had come to
inaugurate four major projects of the Thane Municipal
Corporation.
The main plank for the election will be that of soaring
prices and "as the electioneering progresses you will come to
know about our issues," he said while answering a query.
The seat distribution between the Sena and BJP will be
known in the coming days, he said and expressed confidence of
the saffron combine coming to power.
Earlier, he inaugurated the Rs 36 crore SATIS project of
the Thane city and also the 110 MLD water supply scheme
besides a civic library and a nature park.
At the upper deck of the project Uddhav flagged off the
first TMT bus which proceeded to Lokmanya Nagar.
In his speech he said that by carrying out the
inauguration by remote the Thane Municipal Corporation has
proved that it is upper than the other corporations in the
country and that too Mumbai and lauded elected representatives
of the civic body for their efforts to see these mega
projects through.
While referring to the claim by the Congress-NCP leaders
that the Centre and the State had funded the various projects
he hit back and said that it was the tax payers money which
the government returned. In fact the Thane city and Mumbai
contributed 30 per cent of the total taxes collected in the
country and it was nothing big they (Congress-NCP government)
were doing, they are just doing their duty, he said.
Earlier Mr. Uddhav inaugurated an exhibition of the
cartoons drawn by Shiv Sena supreme Bal Thackeray. While
referring to the cartoons, he said that the present day people
did not know as to how much Balasaheb had contributed and
strived for the benefits of the Marathi manoos.
He declared that from 1960 to 1985 Balasaheb drew
cartoons on various issues and depicted each and every
individual and some of them still have the scars on them.
Selected cartoons from this collection would be published in
the form of a book soon, he said.
The decision to have the 'Warkari Bhavan' for Mumbai came
up as there was a Haj House and nothing for the 'Warkari
Sampradaya' which is a culture. Similar Bhavan should be there
in Thane too, he suggested and added that once the Sena-BJP is
returned to power it will have such bhavans in each and every
district of the state.
Municipal Commissioner Nand Kumar Jantre who saw though
all these projects was honoured by Uddhav Thackeray.
In his speech 'Lok Satta' Editor Kumar Ketkar said that
his newspaper always supported works which were in the
interest of the city.
Marathi Actor Milind Gunaji, Thane MLA and Sena Chief
Ekanth Shinde, Mayor Smita Indulkar, MLC Sanjay Kelkar, Kalyan
Sena chief Gopal Landge, Kalyan MP Ana nd Paranjpe were
present.
Conspicuous absentees on the occasion were the NCP and
Congress m embers who were insisting that the CM should be the
chief guest and also the Chairman of the TMT Sudha Chavan.
