New Delhi: The Central Administrative
Tribunal (CAT) has slammed Delhi Transport Corporation for
giving wrong reports of eye tests on selected candidates for
its drivers saying it was "alarming".
The Tribunal said the reports given by DTC were
confronted with the tests done by other hospitals and were
found to be wrong, after which the affected candidates were
finally recruited for the post of drivers.
"DTC had declared 336 candidates unfit on account of
eye vision but when they were directed to Guru Nanak Eye
Centre for re-medical, 323 candidates were declared fit, which
means 95 per cent of the candidates declared unfit by DTC
medical board were found to be fit by the specialised hospital
for eyes," the CAT headed by Vice President L K Loshi said.
The CAT said "the report of the DTC board in these
circumstances does not inspire confidence."
The discrepancy in data was disclosed through RTI
application filed and submitted by petitioner Rupesh Kumar
before the CAT which was hearing his plea challenging
disqualification on the basis of DTC medical board report.
When he got himself checked up in another government
hospital, the report comes in the negative. He was declared as
visually and medically fit by the hospital.
