Panaji: Goa government has said it has not
allotted any alternate land for special economic zone (SEZ)
promoters or allowed the same land to be used for other
purpose.
State Chief Minister Digamber Kamat told this to the
state Legislative Assembly during the ongoing winter session,
which began today at Porvorim.
Goa, despite scrapping all the SEZ projects bowing to
public pressure, is still struggling to de-notify three
projects.
Kamat said three SEZ promoters, who have been notified,
have utilised only minor portion of land for civic works.
The promoters including K Raheja Corp Pvt Ltd., M/s
Meditab Specialities Pvt Ltd and M/s Peninsula Pharma Research
Centre had their projects notified from the Commerce Ministry.
Kamat said the state government has communicated its
decision to do away with the SEZs in the present form to
ministry of commerce and industry.
"The decision of the Union Ministry is awaited at this
stage," the chief minister said.
