Mumbai: CBI in the alleged bribery case
involving Buta Singh's son Sarobjot Singh is recording the
statement of the Bangalore-based 'Hawala' operator, who was to
allegedly transfer the bribe money in Delhi.
Shyamlal Chaudhari's statement is being recorded since
the past one week as a witness in the case, senior CBI
officials told agency.
According to the investigating agency, Chaudhari was to
receive the money from the arrested Hawala operators in Mumbai
and was to transfer the money to Sarobjot in Delhi.
Chaudhari was brought to Mumbai from Bangalore last week
and his statement is being recorded in the case as a witness,
CBI officials said.
The CBI would also be recording National Commission for
Scheduled Caste Buta Singh's statement in the case as a
witness on September 10 in Delhi.
Sarobjot and three operators - Anup Kumar Begi, Madan
Singh Solanki and Dhukh Singh Chauhan were arrested on July 31
for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs one crore from a
Nashik-based contractor Ramrao Patil to close an atrocity case
registered against him under the SC/ST Act.
Sarobjot was released on bail by a special CBI court in
August.
