Dharamsala: The Himachal Pradesh government
on Tuesday expressed concern over the swine flu deaths in the
state, but said several preventive measures had been taken to
check spread of the dreaded disease that was affecting its
tourism industry.
Rapid response team has been constituted in every
district and separate wards created for H1N1 affected people,
Health minister Rajeev Bindal said, adding more such wards
would be set up at sub-division and block levels.
Congress MLA Kaul Singh Thakur brought the matter in the
state assembly today through a call attention motion.
Thakur said the outbreak of swine flu had caused concern
among visitors to the state, casting a "dark shadow" over
tourism industry.
Seven persons have died due to swine flu so far while 36
others infected by H1N1 virus is undergoing treatment in the
state.
The minister, however, said the situation due to swine
flu in HP was not bad in comparison to other states.
Swine flu test is presently available at IGMC Shimla and
CRI Kasauli, and efforts are being made to provide similar
facility at Government Medical College Tanda in Kangra
district, he said.
