Jaipur: In a desperate move to extort
money from his own relations, father of a two-and-a-half-year
old allegedly plotted "abduction" of the child and hid him in
his friend's house in the city, a senior police officer said.
Vikas Jain was detained by police this morning in
Kotwali area for allegedly hiding his little son Yashu Bordi
in his friend's house, SP (north) Ashok Naruka said.
A child missing complaint was filed by child's
grandparents last evening. Police swung into action after the
child's grandfather turned out to be an assistant secretary in
the Chief Minister's Office and the toddler was found.
Jain confessed that he was jobless and he had plotted
the kidnap drama to extort money from his father and
father-in-law by making ransom calls this morning, the SP
said.
However, he was detained before he made any ransom
call.
During interrogation, he made contradictory statements
and did not appear to be anxious about son's safety. He was
detained and a case registered against him, the SP said.
