Raipur, Jan 05: Dharamlal Kaushik, the BJP MLA from
Bilha Assembly constituency was unanimously elected as the
Speaker of the third Assembly of Chhattisgarh.
After all the newly elected Legislators administered
the oath by the pro tem Speaker Bodhram Kanwar, Kaushik was
declared Speaker of the House.
Kaushik had filed his nomination for the post on
Sunday. With no other nomination for the post, it was certain
that Kaushik would be elected unopposed to the post.
The proposal for Kaushik's nomination as Speaker was
brought by Chief Minister Raman Singh and was supported by
Leader of Opposition Ravindra Chaube.
After taking over the charge Kaushik said he would
maintain the integrity of the House.
