Kochi: JD(S) in Kerala led by M P Veerendra
Kumar on Sunday formally informed the Congress-led UDF about its
decision to be part of the front.
JD(S) leaders, Veerendra Kumar, K Krishnakutty and
Varghese George held discussions in this regard with UDF
Chairman and opposition leader in the Assembly, Oommen Chandy,
and Kerala PCC president Ramesh Chennithala.
Talking to reporters, Veerendra Kumar said the response
of UDF leaders to the JD(S) decision was "positive". No other
discussions were held, he said.
JD(S) in Kerala had snapped ties with CPI(M)-led LDF
following differences over allotment of the Kozhikode
Parliament seat and also with the parent party led by Deve
Gowda.
Veerendra Kumar said they did not come out of the front
but were "kicked out". Following this, the JD(S) unit had to
take some decisions and there was no pain or regret, he said.
Chandy also said the JD(S) has decided to cooperate with
the UDF.
Ramesh Chennithala would inform the Congress leadership
about this development. In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the
JD(S) had "helped us and we appreciate the same", he said.
