Patna: The Bihar government on Thursday said the case relating to the murder of former Railway Minister Lalit Narayan Mishra was still pending in Delhi's Karkardooma court.

Replying on behalf of the government to BJP member Sanjay Kumar Jha's calling attention motion in the legislative council, Human Resources Development Minister Hari Narayan Singh narrated the sequence of events and said the case was handed over to the CBI and was transferred to Delhi on December 12, 1979 on a Supreme Court directive.

The CBI filed chargesheet on January 21, 1981 and concluded the deposition of 151 prosecution witnesses in April 1986, Singh said.

Jha wanted to know whether the state government had conducted any inquiry and whether there was any report.

Singh said that the case was investigated by the then inspector general Shashi Bhushan Sahay who submitted his report to the then Chief Minister.

The Chief Secretary had admitted in Karkardooma court, that the report was submitted to the then Chief Minister, he said.

Vinod Kumar Choudhary and Haroon Rashid, both JD(U), also demanded that the report be made public.

The minister said that the report was not with him and he would make it available as soon as possible.
