Srinagar: The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference on Saturday accused the Centre of viewing the Kashmir problem through the "prism of Pakistan" and claimed that third party mediation has become inevitable in resolving the issue.

"As no effort is being made to remove the mistrust and misgivings between India and Pakistan, a third party mediation to bring the two countries on the table and resolve Kashmir issue is inevitable," the faction's chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told reporters after a meeting of the amalgam here.

He claimed that third party mediation has been successful in resolving conflicts in the world.

Mirwaiz asked both India and Pakistan to take initiative for a comprehensive dialogue to resolve the issue while taking Kashmiris on board. "They can't wish away. They have to talk to Kashmiris for an everlasting solution to the issue."

"Time has come when people of India should know the facts, as they have been shown Kashmir through the prism of Pakistan. They are being told that Pakistan wants to occupy Kashmir and sends militants here," he said.

Terming ongoing struggle in Kashmir as an indigenous movement for right to self determination, he said no sponsored struggle can sustain for a long time.

Mirwaiz said his amalgam has always welcomed the confidence building measures taken by the two countries for resolving the issue.
