Ranchi: It was a mixed fortune for family
members of politicians who contested the Jharkhand Assembly
polls.
JMM chief Shibu Soren's younger son Hemant won from Dumka
defeating former deputy chief minister Stephen Marandi.
Another family member of the JMM supremo--daughter-in-law
Sita, widow of Durga Soren--won the election from Jama.
Sushila Hansda, sitting JMM MLA from Litipara, did not
contest this time, but her husband Simon Marandi contested on
JMM ticket and won.
Former chief minister Madhu Koda, an MP, allegedly
involved in the Rs 2000 crore money laundering scam did not
contest the polls, but his wife Geeta romped home from
Jagannathpur.
Former Jharkhand Assembly Speaker and MP Inder Singh
Namdhari, did not contest but fielded his son Dilip in
Daltonganj but he lost.
Former deputy chief minister and senior JMM leader
Sudhir Mahto, who lost the Ichagarh seat this time is the
brother of late Nirmal Mahto, a founder member of the JMM.
Amit Yadav, the son of late BJP MLA Chittaranjan
Yadav, contested and won the Barkata seat after he was given
ticket by the saffron party.
